WE HAVE MOVED!!NEW DOMAIN ADDRESS!

I am pleased to announce that JourneySpeaks has moved to a new domain.

We are not starting over, just doing greater.

I am so grateful for all the love and support you have continued to show me over the past 5 years. This support has allowed me to learn as well as grow in this journey of blogging and for that I am forever thankful. Blogging has allowed me to explore a different side to myself and having people that understood me and made this journey easy is something that I so not take lightly.

Because of all of this I have decided to register for a self hosted domain so that we can do bigger and greater things. The journey has just began and I can tell you now that exciting things are coming.

Please make sure that you visit and follow www.journeyspeaks.co.za as this is where I will be posting all my new content. Note that all my blog post’s on this site will also be moved to the new site.

I can’t wait to see you!

HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE DURING THE LOCKDOWN.

Being productive during the lockdown period is hard. You wake up in the morning feeling already unmotivated and by the time you blink an eye it is already evening, and you haven’t done anything. I don’t know how many day’s I have already wasted without doing anything but after days and days of struggling, I have found the secret of how to be productive during the lockdown period.

Being productive helps you evolve, and it teaches you to continuously push yourself. You will become the better you and after a while you will learn to do more with your time. You will never feel like you don’t have enough time and you won’t procrastinate.

HOW TO BE PRODUCTIVE DURING THE LOCKDOWN.

1.Write It Down.

Planning always helps me stay productive. I always write down the tasks I must do for the day so that it stands as a reminder for me. Funny enough it is so easy to forget what you had to do in a blink of an eye. What I do is write down everything I want to do for the day and work at tackling those tasks.

Whenever you do this though make sure not to overwhelm your brain by writing too many things. I prefer to list my tasks so that it doesn’t look too overwhelming.

Make sure that your order your tasks by importance and try keep your list as short as possible. This will give you the impression that it’s not going to be too bad and motivate you to complete your tasks.

2. Do Your Most Dreaded Task First.

The trick to getting things done is to start with the hardest task. I don’t know how many times I decided I was no longer going to be productive because there was something on the list that I didn’t want to do. I have now realized though that it is so much easier to start with the dreaded task first because once you get it done comes the easier tasks. You’ll also feel much lighter after this task is done.

Hard or dreadful tasks can sometimes also be time consuming, you end up taking the whole day trying to do one thing when you could have completed 4 other tasks. At the end of the day you haven’t done anything and you’re still at point 0.

So, the next time you have a few things to do use this tip and you’ll say thank you later.

3. Turn off Distractions.

Most times when I ask myself why I couldn’t do a set task the answer is because I was distracted. Sometimes I don’t even notice how distracted I have been until there’s no more time to do the set task.

What is a distraction?

A distraction is something that prevents you from concentrating on something else. This can be anything from your cellphone, noise, the people around you and sometimes even your own thoughts. Distractions are terrible because sometimes you don’t even notice how distracted you are until you see the sunset.

Something that I have learnt to do over this lockdown period is to put away everything that distracts me. I try to move away from things that have the potential to distract me. For example, my cellphone always distracts me so what I do when I want to be productive is either put my cellphone on silent or away from the area I am working at.

4.Take Breaks.

I can’t emphasize how important it is to take breaks. You should never think that you will be productive by over working yourself because you won’t. If you want to be productive you need to be smart about planning your time and make sure that you give yourself a rest whenever you need to.

I take many short breaks while trying to tackle a task and this is not because I don’t want to finish but because I don’t want to end up tackling the task poorly. Taking breaks will boost your brain functionality and decrease mental fatigue meaning that you will do your best. So next time when you’re trying to be productive don’t forget to give yourself some rest.

Things to do when you are taking a break.

  • Drink some water.
  • Walk around the house.
  • Make some food.
  • Dance.

5. Progress, not perfection.

Change your mindset and stop trying to complete a lot of things at once. If you wanted to do 3 things for the day and you were able to complete 2 celebrate that! The fact that you were able to wake up and do something is something to be happy about. Tomorrow aim at doing

Progress, not perfection has been my motto for some time now. I feel that we always focus on being perfect and doing things right the first time, but we should be giving our self a pat in the back for that one extra thing we were able to do. Focus on your progress and eventually you will be where you want to be.

This will also keep you motivated, and you’ll feel excited to do the next thing.

That is How to be productive during the lockdown period.

Being in such difficult times with the pandemic can easily put you off the rail and make you uninterested in anything so it is up to you to lift yourself up and get things done. I encourage you to stay positive and stay productive so that you can have something to look at after the lockdown.

Thank you so much for reading and I hope that this post was beneficial to you. Please leave a comment on how you stay productive during this pandemic.
